Below are videos of three different projects. My work is often site-specific rather than presented on a proscenium stage; thus, full-length documentation is not the most common way I capture works. I approach documentation as part of the creative process, not simply as a record. For this reason, I often shape documentation into edited films that highlight multiple perspectives, or into exhibits and published texts that extend the life of the work as further reflection. I hope these examples demonstrate both the integrity of the original works and my commitment to re-imagining how performance lives on in multiple forms.

SPLASH!
SPLASH! is a dance-theatre work for young audiences, typically 45 minutes to an hour in length. Below, I include the closing section of the performance, which features audience participation. This point in the show is the climax in some ways because the piece is created in part to introduce and encourage young audiences to engage in creative dance—often for the first time. While the participation may appear spontaneous, each moment is carefully curated and choreographed. Earlier sequences model movement vocabulary for the audience, offering them material to draw upon when invited to join in. Throughout the performance, the performers use British Sign Language.

Archiving with Bare Feet
Archiving as artistic practice.
I include this artwork – Archiving with BareFeet as a demonstration of my work conceiving the documentation of dance works as artworks in themselves. This piece was commissioned by Sioban Davis Studio
